Built in the 16th Century by Queen Elizabeth’s lawyer, Thomas Seckford, the Almshouses offer:
- Very Sheltered Flats (single and double) for those who wish to live independently, safe in the knowledge that carers are on hand 24 hours a day
- Residential Care in Jubileee House for those who would like their own comfortable room with carers on hand 24/7 and all their meals, laundry and cleaning provided
- A Day Club for those who live in the community and would like to meet other people, take part in activities and enjoy a good lunch
The older almshouse buildings are full of historic character and great care has been taken to ensure that the newer very sheltered flats and residential accommodation combine the best features of the past with the highest standards of the new.
The staff are highly skilled, well trained and committed to making the lives of older people as enjoyable as possible. The Almshouses aim to create a homely atmosphere and encourage independence among residents and visitors while respecting their individual needs and their wishes.
