Seckford Foundation hosts annual Police Cadets parade

The Annual Parade of the Suffolk Constabulary Volunteer Police Cadets took place in the Dome at Woodbridge School on 16 March. There are four units of volunteer police cadets across Suffolk, based in Martlesham at Police HQ, Ipswich, Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds, comprising a total of 100 cadets aged between 13 and 18. A further five units are expected to be opened within the next twelve months.

The stated aims of the scheme are to reduce youth vulnerability to crime and social exclusion through enhancing their ability to contribute and achieve; to promote a practical interest in policing;  to encourage positive leadership within communities; and to encourage a spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship.

Each cadet is provided with a development and training programme containing achievable time related tasks which contribute to his or her development  as a person while assisting the police in their work within local communities.
